IWC HEMSEDAL 2006

The trip to the last Ice climbing World Cup competition 2006 happend on the beginning of the March. The competition took place on 3–5 March in winter resort Hemsedal, Norway.

The men semifinals difficulty climbing and the competition of women toke place on ice construction in the centre of the town. But the quality of the ice suffered by the temperature above freezing point.

Therefore the organizers moved the finals of men together with speed ice climbing competition to beatiful nature arena not far from the town of Goal. The competition was in freezing and suny weather.
The first three places of the comp: Hari Berger (Aus), Evgeny Kryvosheitzev (Ukr) and Markus Bendler (Aus). Women: Ines Papert (Ger), Maureau Stiphanie (Fra), Jenny Lavarda (Ita).

From Czechs Jiří Pelikán was 5th, Martin Louda staied in front of gates to the finals as 11th and Jiří Slabý was 29nt (after bad luck with droping of the ice axe). The Czechs were in the competition in speed: Jiří Pelikán 10th, Martin Louda 13th and Jiří Slabý 15th.

After the competing we moved to well known glacier area Rjukan. There we did several nice climbs e.g: JUVSOYLA WI 6, Jiří Pelikán and Martin Louda, OS; LIPTON WI 7, Jiří Pelikán (OS) and Jiří Slabý.
