Hi George. It depends where you stay. There are good climbing crags for beginners around Prague in Srbsko - sector Alkazar, another also easy area souther from Prague is Roviste, around Brno I would recommend Sloup. Gyms are almost everywhere and they are safe and I would say quite cheap on contrary with West Europe. Look for the article Newbie at Czech Climbing? Start Here!
