Michal and Miroslav Coubal honored for mountaineering in Italy
Czech climbers Michal and Miroslav Coubal were awarded the Belluno Province Prize in Italy for their lifelong climbing careers in the Dolomites and the Alps. The Pelmo d'Oro Award recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to the cultural and historical significance of the Dolomites.
The brothers Michal and Miroslav Coubal earned the award by opening a series of first ascents by free climbing on many walls in the Dolomites and the Alps at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, "in accordance with the climbing tradition acquired in their homeland and on the sandstone towers in Bohemia and Saxony."
