A new outdoor artificial climbing wall in Prague was opened a couple months ago. It is built from concrete and climbing routes lead via artificial holds with help of the structure of surface. According to many opinions it it the best artificial climbing in Prague at the moment when there is good weather (it is possible to climb there even in rain on the overhanging side).
Banff Mountain Film Festival - the world festival of mountain films from town of Banff, Canada, visits the 4th time on their world tour to Czech Republic. The show from 30th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival (November 2005) will this year be projected not only in Jicin (East Bohemia) on September 22-23., but also in Prague (October 17-18) and Brno (November 10-11).
This weekend another World Cup competition in lead climbing will take place in Marbella, Spain. It will be the trial for competitiors and organizers, because the next World Championship will take place there.
Jan Špáta, maker of a trad climbing documentary film died
The Czech excelent film document maker Jan Špáta died. He is the author of the top climbing film about Czech sandstone climbers "Okamžik radosti" (The Moment of Enjoyment) from the 1965 which had been one of the best films presented last years in the International Mountaineering Film Festival (also known as Festak) in the town Teplice nad Metují (North-East Bohemia).

The wall should be open till the end of October and is open daily from 10.00 till 23.00 h. You can take your own rope and a bunch of express sets or you can hire them on the spot. The overhanging side is equiped by permanent express sets.
The wall is 15 metres high and the 6 metres overhanged.
It is located in Strašnice 5 min close to metro station Strašnická, Praha 10 on the line B (yellow).
