Ski mountaineer Eva Matějovičová tries Olympic participation
Czech ski mountaineering representative Eva Matějovičová will compete for a place at the Olympics, the Czech Mountaineering Association announced yesterday. She is currently in Salt Lake City, USA, where the final qualifying race in ski mountaineering sprint for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy will take place on Sunday, December 7.
Czech girl Aneta Loužecká finished fourth yesterday evening in the European Cup ice climbing competition in Žilina, Slovakia. Jan Mikel was tenth in the final. Our other competitors finished in the qualifying round:
Jan Štípek climbed his second 9a: Wild Publico in Spain
Czech Jan Štípek climbed his second 9a. On Friday, November 28, he managed to complete the Wild Publico 9a route in Margalef, Spain. He recorded the route in his diary on Lezec.cz and posted about the climb on Instagram.
The European Cup series in ice climbing continues today with a competition in Žilina, Slovakia, with nine of our athletes participating, including Czech favorites Aneta Loužecká and Oliver Hamerský, who won silver a week ago at the season opener in Switzerland.
The Prague 2025 International Mountaineering Festival begins
The Prague International Mountaineering Festival 2025 begins today at 4:30 p.m. at the International Hotel in Prague 6. Today's program includes a lecture by Jakub Cejpek, who this year completed his collection of ascents of 82 four-thousanders in Alps, and the opening of the exhibitions: Češka koča + Czechia-Slovenia Mutuality and Makalu 1975 + Annapurna 1995. "Our goal is to make climbing accessible to all enthusiastic athletes regardless of physical conditions and disabilities and to expand the Czech para-climbing representation," the ČHS announced on Facebook.

Adam Ondra has posted a new documentary film on YouTube about his recent bouldering trip to Italy and Switzerland, where he managed to flash the 8C boulder Foundation's Edge. The film captures the preparation, strategy, and background of the 8C flash, as well as other climbs such as Big Illusion 8C, Ziqqurat 8C, Gliese 581 8B+ flash, and Ghost Ship 8B+ flash.
Czech Oliver Hamerský finished second yesterday evening in the European Cup ice climbing competition in Bern, Switzerland. Aneta Loužecká came sixth in the final. Two other members of Czech team finished in the qualifying round: Jan Mikel came 29th and Vojtěch Novozámský came 38th.

Ski mountaineering will make its debut at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina Milano. The Games will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026.
