Czech Mountaineering Association warns of dangerous rings
The Czech Mountaineering Association (ČHS) has warned of the possible occurrence of dangerous rings in sandstone areas in Czechia. The warning follows an incident in Saxon Switzerland, Germany, where last year a ring broke under static load on the Akkupressur XIIa route on the Riesenechse tower; the climber's fall was only stopped by another ring.
Czech Aneta Loužecká won silver today in the final of the World Cup speed ice climbing competition in speed in South Korea. Earlier today, Aneta advanced from 11th place in the qualification round to the semifinals in difficulty ice climbing, which will take place tomorrow in South Korea.
The Vír ice wall in the Žďár region on Moravia, East of Czech Republic, opened today, according to an announcement by its operators on Facebook. Vladimír Ťéša Těšitel, doyen of Chrudim mountaineers, has died
The doyen of Chrudim climbers, expert in installing and testing fixed safety equipment, and friend Vladimír Ťéša Těšitel has passed away. We received the sad news from friends in Chrudim, East Bohemia, Czechia. Ťéša died suddenly on Saturday, January 3, at the age of 82.

Frosty weather has arrived in the Czech Republic, but the Krkonoše icefall has not yet swelled properly, and we are waiting to see what tomorrow brings. On Wednesday, the Krnap administration should announce, as reported on the icefall website, when it will be possible to book ice climbing.
